The Band's History

Sometime in late 1991 or early 1992, DaZsaVoo began under the name "Almost Human". Gene Nix fronted the band with his lead vocals and his raucous stage antics. We also had Jimmy Staggs on lead guitar, James Rediger on bass, Daniel Young on drums, and myself, Patrick Dillon on keys and rhythm guitar. Jimmy and Daniel left the band, and were replaced with Robert Cates and Jim Linger. It was time to change the name of the band. DaZsaVoo was born. We had been playing at clubs like the "Alcatraz" (now Southside Rock Club), "Wolf Trap", and the "Alley Club". Over the years, our bass players changed quite routinely. We lossed Rediger to Craig Wetz. Craig eventually moved on to some very respectful local bands like "Alter Ego", "the "Lava Kings", and now with the "Push". We also have had Marvin Langan, Kelly Wells, Robert Neria, and Kelly Parson, playing bass for us at one time or another. Our drummers have been just as "rotational"!! After Daniel Young, we worked with Jim Linger, Jim Culpepper, Mike Bell, Mike Oleague, and Pat Crossland. We have worked every club, dive, bar, and more. We played biker rallies, family picnics, and even opened for a "Blood, Sweat, & Tears" spin-off group in Bricktown. We worked at the "Alley Club" for many years as a regular act, and a short stint at the "Samauri", "Liberty D's", and the "Boar's Head". We have played regularly at "Stroker's", "Bricktown Charley's", and continue to play for the "Classic Rock Cafe". Our current band consists of:

Gene Nix - lead vocals and guitar Robert Cates - lead guitar Patrick Dillon - keys and rhythm guitar Marvin Langan - bass guitar Forrest Worrell - drums
Forrest had been with "Counterfiet", "Hard Knocks", and "Spur of the Moment".
Marvin had previously been with "Mary Ann and the Blue Dogs", "Some Assembly Required", and of course, DaZsaVoo.

We are just very grateful to have them both with us at this time. We feel that DaZsaVoo is going to have a huge impact on the local music scene this year. And we know it couldn't be accomplished without the help of Marvin and Forrest.
